SPEC SHORTS – (Vol. 2) Issue 5: Feb 5, 2025

During a progress review meeting with a Client, Professor V. was asked why some sections reference the Exterior Finish Materials Schedule instead of listing the Basis-of-Design Materials, while others list the materials in Part 2. Professor V. explains that although the schedule contains information that would belong in Part 2 Products, the Specifications coordinate between the Drawings and Schedules to facilitate overall completeness. Therefore, if product information is listed in the Exterior Finish Materials Schedule, the Trade Sections should only reference the schedule to ensure no duplication of product information is created within the Project Manual.
