SPEC SHORTS – (Vol. 2) Issue 9: Mar 5, 2025
This week we join Professor V. and Eitan Goldstein from Naturaseal, on a concrete podium deck about to receive fluid-applied waterproofing. The Specification forgot to indicate the Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) in Part 3, resulting in a CSP Level of 7 – well outside of the manufacturer’s recommended CSP levels for this product, of between 2 or 3. Eitan explains that grinding or light shot-blasting will prepare the slab to a CSP level required for liquid-applied waterproofing. He continues by stating that when Specifications miss this important information in Part 3, the waterproofing subtrade might be on the hook to further prepare the slab to install their products.
